I'm from Auckland, New Zealand. Been here all my life, wishing to get out of here as quickly as possible.

I'm from Detroit, Michigan originally, but I'm in Atlanta, Georgia now.

Leritzi, where do you want to move to?

Well... I'm not entirely sure. Because I haven't travelled everywhere I don't know where I would like to end up the most. I've always wanted to move to Melbourne Australia, as I was going to go to Uni there. But now I'm thinking West Coast of US, but without having visited there I don't know. I suppose once I've finished uni, I'll see where life takes me. I think anywhere from here will be fine

Before someone asks, there isn't exactly alot of opportunity  here in New Zealand. Yeah it is a nice place to visit, you can come and watch some crazy natives jump up and down. But Technical jobs are sarce, and often don't lead to anything.

Also I'm a city person, I need a lively city. Even though Auckland is the largest city in New Zealand it has only 1million people. That is nothing more that a hyped up town.

There has been lots of talk here over the last decade about "The Brain Drain", as all new graduates once getting there degrees leave NZ. So all the brain is leaving. The government has tried incentives to keep us here, but without investment in R&D we will leave. Because there is no government subsitys of R&D, New Zealand is the most expensive place to do R&D. And thus the lack of jobs or money to keep us here

California is definitely an interesting place.  I've spent some time there, but I think a lot of the people are just plain wierd, and the husing prices are just insane.  I much prefer where I'm at.

Cape Town, South Africa.

Leritzi, you're also experiencing the brain drain? We've had such an exodus from here over the past decade or more that there is a car-bumper-sticker that reads: "Will the last person to leave the country please switch off the lights?"  Grin

Travelled to 9 countries so far, and looking to do a good load more in my life yet. Despite the problems, there's no place like home, and I still love Cape Town!

I've just got home from work. Just had a conference call to some business associates in Cape Town. Sounds beautiful there, but the guy who I talked to had been held up at gun point before. Maybe I just like my safety here.

I've always heard Cape Town is a pretty dangerous place, then again, I'm from Detroit, so I can't throw any stones Smiley

It was getting quite bad a few years ago. but nowadays it's got a lot safer.
I think the crime rate was comparible to New York, but not anymore, and there's a lot of visible policing now too.

Of course, still keep your wits about you no matter where you go in the world, and it doesn't harm to try and fit in & try not to wear too much visible expensive jewelerry, etc... keep your phone in your pocket, your wallet out of the back pocket (rather in the front). In other words, if you make yourself look like a mugging waiting to happen, it might just happen.

But then again, with the visible policing and security companies around now... much safer.

Is it like a police state, or did they find a middle ground?
