Christmas

With Christmas only 6.5 Weeks away, and with all the shopping malls putting up decorations and getting ready for the christmas rush makes me have to ask:

What is everyone doing for Christmas?

We're going to get a Christmas tree after we get back from disney world next week.  That's about the extent of our decorating.  Christmas itself is pretty maddening.  My parents just moved down and my wife's parent's insist on being here for Christmas too, so we get to run around "spending time" with everyone.

So next year, I'm creating a web form for my inlaws to "sign up" for holidays.  They have this habit of coming down and staying with us for EVERY damn holiday.  The form will, of course, only let them pick 3, and Thanksgiving and Christmas will be mutually exclusive - one or the other.

How about you?  Going back to Oz?

DisneyLand? You're just trying to make me jealous aren't you? We haven't got enjoyments like that down here. My entire childhood has gone <sniff> without disneyland  :'(

My Christmas is normally pretty hectic, running around visiting different family members. It's hard being the nice guy, cos many family members don't talk to each other. BUt i get on with everyone so i normally have to visit everyone by myself. But this year we are going back to oz for a few days, just over christmas. So it won't be so maddening this yeah. Going to Melbourne, got heaps of family there which I will be staying with.

Disneyland is the one in California, and it isn't that great.  Disneyworld is in Florida and it's pretty nice.

I can relate to having family members not getting along.  It got doubly complicated when I got married (and, of course, my parents and her parents don't get along) and worse when we had kids.

We're seriously talking about just going on a cruise or something next Christmas so we don't have to deal with the madness.

oh i didn't actually know there was a difference between disneyland and disneyworld.

One reason we are going to Melbourne this year is to get away from all stuff that I have to deal with my dad and all on Christmas day. Not a very pleasant day~ my mum thought it would be a good idea to get away.

Disneyland is a park right in the middle of San Diego, with parking lots, stores, and whatnot on all sides.

Disneyworld is near Orlando, FL.  It's on a absolutely enormous piece of land with miles (and even more kilometers) surrounding it.

Still.... sounds like fun. My childhood was lost of programming computers.... as i'd have to swim along way to get to either, exciting places  :'(

when I lived in detroit, my wife and i drove to disneyworld once.  we ended up buying a new car because the airline our tickets were with went on strike and the AC in my car was broken.  i drove 22 hours straight to get there.  not as bad as swimming, but close.

One of these years, I'm going to stay home and tell all of the rest of my family that we'll be over the day before or the day after.
