How do you find the motivation to get ahead - going back to school, etc?

i think you've got to know what you want~ and where you want to be. Not just sitting around waiting for things to happen, getting out there and making things happen. It's all in the mind. It's like an exothermic reaction, lots of energy must be put in to overcome the activiation energy but once you are over it a whole lot of energy comes out. You've got to get the ball rolling.

thats the problem i had (and still have), i think nearly everyone that is young doesn't really know what they want. Even though I don't know what i want to do, I know if I go in the direction of something I enjoy, like taking a course which really interests me i know I'll end up somewhere close to what i enjoy. THough I don't know what, I know that whatever it is could achieve a happy life. But I think the best thing to do, is just start a course doing something that you like doing. Because it is so much easier to study and learn when you are doing something you enjoy. And you'll know that your career path ahead of you is going to be around a subject or field you really enjoy.

You just don't want to be in your 30's still taking new and interesting classes whilest you wait for inspiration Smiley

My brother is having a very hard time figuring out what he wants to do now that he's out of school.  I fear that he's going to settle with something that doesn't make him happy at all.

Nothing bad, just taking a job that he really doesn't want.  If he does, he'll be doing it unhappily for the rest of his life.  That's my fear.
