Is Iran next?
« on: July 30, 2005, 01:47:02 pm »
So, the news is that the US is planning to pull out its troops from Iraq next year.  Given the situation with Iran, their nuclear ambitions and their questionable new leader, is it likely that we'll just "go down the street" for our next conquest?

I really don't think so.  It seems pretty clear that the US won't go toe to toe with countries with the bomb - take North Korea for example.

I didn't think they already had the bomb...  that's why we're going to do them next.

Well, so far, we haven't "done them" yet.

I agree with mutex. I wish they would bring the troops home..but what must be done must be done.

Let's be realistic now.  Sometimes countries have to go to war.  The reasons aren't always obvious at the time.  I'm not saying that there weren't mistakes made, but like so many other things in life, sometimes you have to make a stand, and if you turn out to be wrong, you take your lumps and do what needs to be done.  It doesn't mean that we need apologize to the world and roll up the military.
