But what do you enjoy doing the most? Or is this move purely a career thing that should get you oneday where you'd most want to be?  :-\

It's all about getting me where I want to be financially.  I don't enjoy working 12 hours a day, or firing people or the stress, but I do like the work that I do.

Yeah, that does sound crappy. Well, I hope you get to where you want to be before it all stresses you out too much.

Just a question: If you knew you couldn't possibly fail, what would you choose to do?

don't get me wrong, I'm not unhappy.  I just like to bitch!

Ultimately, my goal is philanthropy.  But, there's the small detail of needing money, which I'm trying to fix.  I just need to stop buying stuff now :)

Otherwise, I think for me, it would be an idenpendant IT/business consulatant

Now that sounds more like it! Yeah, maybe spending isn't always such a good thing in the long run. But in your current position, would you be able to save a few years to be able to start out on your own as a consultant? There's a lot of merit in being your own boss... along with a bit more work & sometimes a bit of stress!

I don't see being able to get there just by saving.  I've been taking to investing pretty heavily.  I think that's what is going to get me to where I need to be.

Question: Is there a minimum legal wage in the states, and if so what is it?

We do - it's $5.15 per hour.  Each state also has a minimum wage which is at least the federal amount.  It's interesting - adjusted for inflation, the minimum wage is lower than it has ever been since it was enacted in 1938.

Yeah, my brother tried selling Meth as his career of choice.  The government generously provided him with a roof over his head and three meals a day for the past year.  A fair trade I'd say! :)

Otherwise known as 3 hots, a cot and a boyfriend....

That sucks.  I hope he's able to pull it together when he gets out.

He got out a week ago.  I really hope that he is able to pull it together.  He is young, and unfortunately his life has been hard (he and his wife lost their second child to SIDS).  Not that he should use that as an excuse.  But I really hope his luck changes.  He deserves a break, to get on his feet.  He is having a hard time finding a job, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.

On a side note, my brother is lucky in one aspect... he is a BIG man, so no boyfriend for him! :)

I imagine it's probably pretty hard to get a job when you have that on your record.  Most places do background checks before they'll hire you to back groceries.  I imagine that makes it quite hard to "turn your life around" after getting into trouble.

That is truely disturbing.

Anyhow, congrats on the raise!  Sounds like it's well deserved!
