Where, oh where, to begin with this one...

I guess the best place to start is with lo-jack.  Surely you've heard of lo-jack.  Anyone who's ever had their rusted out Chevy suburban stolen knows or wishes they knew about lo-jack.  It is incredibly effective at finding stolen cars.  But when people started realizing that the government was tracking their comings and goings in a giant database run by Mormons, they stopped buying US cars.  Why, you might ask?  Well, who would want to steal some rice burning ultra-sub compact car or a bratwurst burning ride that makes you oblivious to everything around you?  That's my point.

So that started the movement toward foreign cars.  The deal was really sealed when the new on-star system was weaseled into almost every domestic car.  Now, big G wasn't only tracking where you went, they were listening in to your in-car discussions about how to overthrow the government.  That didn't sit well with many people.

When you combine all of that with the fact that foreign cars get about 30 times better gas milage than US cars, and that the government has completely mismanaged hunt for new oil sources, any sane person is going to be buying a toyota.
