Site changes
« on: August 29, 2005, 09:37:36 am »
It's been pointed out to me more than a few times that there were way too many different discussion boards here.  I've taken that to heart and consolidated them down pretty greatly.  All of the threads are still there - we're just doing double duty for related topics in some of the boards.

I think consolidating them down is good, but it's hard to view when each topic isn't grouped under a category. They are all categorised under General, i think more grouping is needed.

For example:

General:
   Current Events
   Rants

Life:
   Love, Romance and Sex
   Getting Ahead

Random:
   Off Topic
   Ask Confusion anything!

Business and Legal:
   Legal & Political Discussions
   Business & Investing

Specialities:
   Computers and Technology

Administrative Stuff:
   Cyvin.org

_______________

I don't mean consolidating them down more~~ what it is like now it good. There is a good number of boards. But each board needs to be grouped under categories.

This isn't ment to be a rant, but.... also the little icons to show if there are new posts or not, they were a hell of a lot easier to see on the old skin.

I think it's looking very good! Did you change the skin at all? Or am I just losing it?  ;D

I did change the skin.  I was getting complaints that the old one was too plain and white.  Well, since I changed it, no one has been back, so I'm thinking that may not have been the best thing to do.

Perhaps the layout looks a little empty... maybe you need some sort of gimmick to keep them coming back? I'm not too sure - just chewing on a few things that come to mind when I look at it.

Surfing around, I came across another SMF forum: inthe00s dot com. They seem to be very busy!!!
Maybe you can get a bit of food for thought there?

Hope it helps some!  ;)

It's all about drawing in people.  The problem with this forum, in my opinion, is that it doesn't have a niche, other than being run by me  ;D

Well the reason I come back to this site is because it isn't too specialised, it doesn't have a niche. I think that is good like this, as it doesn't fix the forum to a particular genre and makes everything up for dicussion
