I've always had mixed feelings about the death penalty.  One the one hand, the crimes that are you can be executed for, do deserve the death penalty.  On the other hand, our judicial system is pretty incompetent, and I have to wonder what percentage of those thousand people were innocent.

So, the preson got a stay of execution at the last minute.  Apparently, that state didn't want to be the one with the distinction of killing the 1000th person.
