President Bush Will Nominate John Roberts as Chief Justice
« on: September 05, 2005, 07:15:49 am »
No link yet, but the news is that Bush is going to nominate the yet to be confirmed justice Roberts to replace William Renquist as cheif justice.  Personally, I think that's a bad idea, as he has no experience in the supreme court.

It is odd that someone without any bench time would be appointed cheif justice.

Cheif justices don't have much power beyond a regular justice, but it is a prominent position.  The other members must be pretty peeved.

The other interesting thing is that Roberts is relatively young - 50's, which means he'll be on the court for a long long time.
